The terminology “can liners” and “trash bags” is used interchangeably, however, the core function of can liners is to line the inside of trash cans to protect them from direct contact with daily waste. Can liners are commonly used in commercial and industrial settings, which makes daily servicing more efficient and safer for janitorial staff. To the contrary, trash bags are used more often in residential settings and can be used as can liners, but function on their own to hold waste without a trash can.
Measuring and selecting your can liner size is a 3-step process. First, you need to determine the type of liner you need. Do you need a liner that can handle heavy or wet trash? Sharp objects? Or average loads? Next, you’ll need to choose your liner gauge. You can measure this using the diagrams above. Last, you can finalize your can liner selection using our cross-reference guide. If you or your team is struggling with their can liners slipping or sliding away from the edges of your trash cans, your solution is to buy can liner bands. Can liner bands are oversized, industrial rubber bands that hold your can liners up around the edges of the trash can.
Industries like municipalities or construction crews often deal with disposing of sharp waste, where specialty can liners are required. Specialty can liners will withstand tough trash such as sticks, sawdust, and more. Shop our puncture and tear-resistant can liners here.
With the right brand, yes, you can! Americhem sources can liners that are made from post-industrial reprocessed resins, which perform dependably in both indoor and outdoor applications.
Our can liners with star bottom seals are manufactured to eliminate leakage and odors from trash. This benefit is especially helpful for companies that handle perishable items and biohazards.
Gusset bottom seals are manufactured so that both sides of the seal are tucked in, creating a flat bottom. These types of seals do have a risk of leaking where the seals meeting at the center points. This only tends to happen with heavy, wet trash.
Can liners with star bottom seals are known in the industry to be the strongest, most dependable seal option. The star folding pattern essentially eliminates leaks and adapts to the shape of the trash can.
Flat seals struggle similarly to the gusset seal, only flat seals tend to leak at the corners and not the center. Again, these bags only tend to struggle with heavy, wet trash.
